In recent days, there has been a worring decline in the number of unversity students choosing science as a subject. This essay will discuss the reasons as well as effects of the above statement.
To begin with ,the causes of avoing science subject by the students is lack of interest from childhood. By means, many youngers are excellent in other fields or activities rather than the science. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both causes, such as a lack of early interest and the perceived difficulty of the subject, and effects, including a shortage of professionals and economic slowing. The ideas presented are relevant, which meets the baseline requirements for a solid mid-level score, though some points remain somewhat under-developed rather than fully extended. For example, the explanation regarding the pandemic during the discussion of effects is a good illustration, but the progression from this example back to the general societal impact is slightly abrupt. To reach the next level, the writer needs to provide deeper, more fully elaborated explanations and examples for each identified cause and effect, ensuring that every main idea is thoroughly explored with extended support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, causes, effects, and conclusion appropriately. The writer uses basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the direction of the text. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions such as 'By means, many youngers are excellent' and referencing issues like 'As students run away from science subject leads to...', where the subject-verb and cohesive link are tangled. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure that cohesive devices are used more naturally and flexibly, and that the logical progression between sentences and ideas is smoother and less dependent on repetitive linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with a limited range that permits the student to communicate basic points about science education and societal effects. However, there are noticeable spelling errors such as 'worring', 'unversity', 'avoing', 'Futhermore', 'srong', 'buisness', 'throught', 'progession', and 'boredem'. Furthermore, word choices and collocations show frequent inaccuracies, such as 'youngers' instead of 'young people' or 'youth', and phrases like 'run away from science subject'. These lexical slips and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score. To improve, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, practice correct spelling conventions, and focus on using accurate collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and agreement that can cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, the sentence starting with 'As students run away from science subject leads to...' lacks a clear main clause subject due to the misuse of the prepositional clause. Other errors include article omissions and awkward phrasing like 'due to boredem and hard work'. To progress to a higher band, the writer should focus on mastering basic sentence architecture, ensuring subject-verb agreement, reducing frequent grammatical errors, and building reliable control over more complex sentence patterns.
