Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify both causes and effects, and the response stays broadly focused on the question. The causes include limited parental encouragement, students’ lack of interest, and the attraction of computer-related study. However, these points are mostly listed rather than explained, and the link between computer studies and declining science enrolment is not made clear. The effects section is especially limited: claims that students will not “attach themselves” to society or know how to live in it are unclear, while the point about too few scholars protecting people from environmental changes needs explanation. The conclusion introduces “advantages and disadvantages,” which does not answer the causes-and-effects question. Develop fewer ideas with clear explanations and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on effects, and a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “First of all” and “In conclusion” helps readers identify these sections. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: several ideas are introduced with repeated phrases such as “There are also some other causes,” without showing how they relate or which are most important. The effects paragraph moves from social connection to knowledge and environmental protection without clear links. Some references, including “it” and “these subjects,” are not always precise. Use topic sentences, connect each explanation to the question, and make the conclusion summarise the main causes and effects rather than introduce a new contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “parents,” “science subjects,” “computer field,” “scholars,” and “environment.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “take interests in studying science” and “attach themselves with theor society” are not natural expressions, and “fluctuations taking place in their environment” is vague in this context. Spelling errors such as “mot,” “soend,” and “preventt” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of phrases for causes and social consequences, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional idea beginning “if students are not choosing science subjects.” However, the range is limited, and longer sentences are often difficult to follow because clauses are joined or punctuated inaccurately. For example, “There are also some other causes that if parents persuade them…” does not form a complete, clear structure, and the conditional sentence about students’ effects shifts awkwardly between clauses. There are also recurring errors with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “in all over the world. But” and “the most serious effects … are if.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when their relationship is clear.
