One of the major causes of this problem is that science subjects like chemistry, biology and physicsare consider quite difficult and challenging for students. Because they require extreme analytical skills and problem solving abilities to understand complex concepts. Another significant reason is that at adults consider that these kinds of courses does not offer a lots of career opportunities. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify two relevant causes: science is seen as difficult, and other subjects are believed to offer better salaries and employment prospects. The entrepreneurship example begins to illustrate the second point. However, the task asks about both causes and effects, and your response gives no effects on society, such as skills shortages or slower technological progress. The causes are also only briefly explained, so the response addresses the task minimally rather than developing its main ideas. The stated length requirement is not met: the response contains 141 words, below the required 250. To improve, cover both parts explicitly, explain how each cause influences students’ choices, and develop at least two societal effects with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable opening and a body paragraph, and the ideas within the paragraph follow a generally understandable order: perceived difficulty, then career prospects, followed by an example. Linking expressions such as “Another significant reason” and “Moreover” help signal the progression. However, the essay stops before establishing a complete structure: there is no paragraph on societal effects or concluding summary. Some connections are also awkward, particularly the sentence beginning “Because they require…”, which is separated from the preceding claim and does not form a complete sentence. Organise the response into an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and effects, and a conclusion. Use linking phrases to show relationships between ideas rather than relying mainly on additive transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “analytical skills,” “problem solving abilities,” “career opportunities,” and “higher salaries.” These choices communicate the main causes and show an attempt to discuss the topic specifically. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “soscity,” “wiith,” “physicsare,” and “enterpreneurship,” and some phrases are unnatural, such as “extreme analytical skills” and “earn high income.” The range is also limited because the response repeats general terms such as “subjects” and “students” without developing vocabulary for the effects on society. Check spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations. For example, “strong analytical skills” and “earn a high income” would express your intended meanings more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “subjects like chemistry, biology and physics are considered…” and a reason introduced with “Because.” However, several grammatical problems affect accuracy. “One of the most pressing issue” needs a plural noun, while “these kinds of courses does not offer” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Because they require…” is a fragment, and “at adults consider” does not form a correct clause. There are also missing spaces after full stops, which affect punctuation. Aim to make each sentence complete, check agreement between subjects and verbs, and review articles and punctuation. These corrections will make your ideas easier to follow.
