Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this unpredictable world, it is often argued that there is only a significant number of students prefer science at their colleges. Although challenging subject and divergent interest are the major reasons for this tendancy, it has a negative impact on the development of the society. Both will be discussed in the subsequent paragraphs.

To commence with, there are a myriad of causative factors of why scholars have least preference towards science. The most pragmatic reason is that it is one the difficult subject for learners. To be more precise, they have mindset that it is not only daunting to solve dstinct chemical calculations but it has also challenging chemical reactions.Another considerable aspect is that pupils have different inetrest in academic field. To explain it further, they have abundance of career opportunities in humanities, business management and sports field. Moreover, they have chance to build their career in diverget field. As a ramification, students do not prefer science at universities.

On the paradoxical side, there are an umpteen of impacts on the society. The first and the foremost is that society will not get growth in the scientific field. In other words, people will not get proper trteatment of fatal diseases beacuse of unavailability of efficient doctors and country may face deficiency in the medical field. Secondly, nation will not have any achievement in investigation of new thing. To elaborate it, if there will be negligible rank in scientific field then it will create detrimental impact on the economy of the country. Consequently, it has a greater negative influence on the society.

To conclude, eventhough it is a biggest stone on tha path of the country's growth, I largely believe that others career options are better for their peronal growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you suggest that science is perceived as difficult and that students are drawn to other career fields, then describe possible effects on medical care, scientific research and the economy. These points are relevant, but several are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between fewer science students and a shortage of doctors is plausible, yet it would be stronger with a clear explanation of how university choices affect the workforce. The effects on research and the economy are also broad and overlap. Your conclusion gives a view about other careers being better for personal growth, but does not clearly restate the main causes and societal consequences. Develop each point with a specific example and keep the conclusion focused on the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and effects, and a conclusion. This makes the main stages of the argument easy to identify. You also use signposting such as “To commence with,” “Moreover,” and “Secondly.” However, some linking is mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For instance, “As a ramification” introduces the result of students choosing other fields, but the preceding explanation could be connected more directly to that outcome. The effects paragraph moves from medical treatment to research and then the economy without fully showing how these points relate. Use fewer formulaic transitions and build clearer links between each claim and its explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related and formal vocabulary, including “career opportunities,” “fatal diseases,” “scientific field,” and “detrimental impact.” This gives you some useful language for discussing education and society. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “least preference,” “divergent interest,” “investigation of new thing,” and “negligible rank in scientific field.” Several ambitious expressions, such as “on the paradoxical side” and “a myriad of causative factors,” do not fit naturally in context. Aim for precise, familiar academic phrasing before using more elaborate expressions, and check spelling carefully. This will make your ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and conditional phrasing such as “if there will be negligible rank.” This shows an effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. For example, “there is only a significant number of students prefer science” has an unclear clause structure, while “it is one the difficult subject” has problems with articles and sentence construction. There are also agreement and punctuation issues, as in “there are an umpteen of impacts,” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them, checking verb forms, articles, agreement and punctuation.
