Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both parts of the question by giving possible causes and describing effects on society. The points about students preferring arts or history and young people needing to work are relevant, and you identify a possible economic consequence. However, the response only partially develops these ideas. For example, it does not explain why science is less appealing, or how limited access to education leads specifically to fewer university science students. The effects section is especially brief: the claims that technology is important and the economy may suffer are not supported with a clear example or explanation. Develop each main point with a cause-and-effect link and a specific illustration, such as the impact of a shortage of engineers or medical researchers.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two paragraphs on causes, and a final paragraph on effects. This gives the reader a general sense of the intended organisation, and phrases such as “First cause” and “Furthermore” signal some relationships between ideas. However, progression is uneven: the second cause paragraph combines lack of resources, early employment, practical work, and government action without clearly showing how these points connect. The effects paragraph also shifts quickly from technology’s importance to the economy. Repeated wording such as “That is why” makes linking mechanical, while references such as “these countries” are not always precise. Give each paragraph a clear central point and use more varied, accurate links to show how supporting details relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “science subjects,” “technology,” “government,” and “economy,” so the main subject is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “not choosing science subjects.” Frequent word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow, as in “not enough source,” “lite subjects,” and “accuracy rate … down.” Some occupational terms are also misspelled or used inaccurately. Aim to learn common academic collocations and check spelling, while choosing precise terms for the effects you mean. For example, specify whether you are referring to economic growth, technological development, or the availability of skilled workers rather than using a vague phrase such as “accuracy rate.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “If they ignore … these subject,” but control is weak and errors occur throughout. Problems with verb forms and agreement appear in “the government … not take proper action,” “everything is depend,” and “students should choosing.” Articles, plurals, and sentence construction are also frequently inaccurate, as in “First cause to not select the science subject.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then extend them with clauses using “because,” “which,” and “if.” Check that each sentence has a correctly formed verb and that subjects and verbs agree before adding more complex structures.
