Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response makes a relevant connection between students’ choices and the growing importance of artificial intelligence, and it identifies a possible societal effect: fewer people entering medicine. However, the task asks for causes of declining science enrolment and effects on society, and these are only minimally addressed. The essay mainly lists AI’s uses and advantages rather than explaining why students choose it over science or tracing wider consequences, such as shortages of scientific research and healthcare workers. The claim that the medical field will be “totally destroye[d]” is not supported with explanation or an example. The response is also one word below the required minimum; the 13 words copied from the prompt do not count. Develop the cause-and-effect links and support them with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic line of thought: AI attracts students, reliance on it has drawbacks, and a lack of science students could affect medicine. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the essay moves abruptly between AI’s benefits, social media, personal feelings, and medical careers. Repeated openings such as “Artificial intelligence” and “There is also advantages” make the progression feel list-like rather than connected. The final sentences repeat the concern that science may disappear instead of drawing the points together. Group the causes in one paragraph and the societal effects in another, then use clear links such as “As a result” to show how one leads to the other.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses basic vocabulary that is generally relevant to the topic, including “artificial intelligence,” “science students,” and “medical field.” It also attempts topic-related expressions such as “self thinking strength” and “business ideas,” but these are unclear or imprecise, and the repeated use of “artificial intelligence” and “advantages” limits range. Spelling and word-form errors, including “Beacuse,” “lifes,” and “destroye,” further reduce accuracy. More precise academic wording would help explain the issue: for example, describe students as being “drawn to AI-related degrees” and the result as a “shortage of qualified healthcare professionals.” Aim for accurate collocations rather than adding more examples of AI’s uses.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences are short and simple, and the response attempts a few longer structures, such as “If we totally depends on artificial intelligence than we shall lose our self thinking strength.” However, these attempts are not controlled: the conditional has incorrect agreement and structure, and “if all students should study artificial intelligence than there are no science students” is similarly faulty. Other recurring errors include “Artificial intelligence become important part” and “Their is also advantages,” where verb forms, articles, or agreement are missing or incorrect. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build controlled cause-and-effect sentences using “because,” “if,” and “as a result.”
