Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Certain individuals believe that insufficient number of students are willing to study science subjects at university all around the world. In my opinion, the basic reason behind is that pupils finds these subjects difficult and boring and it can have negative effects on society.
To commence with, in our education system, students are forced to focus on memorization instead of practicle work because of limited resources. When they cannot understand the actual concept of topics gradually they loss interest in those subjects and find them boring. Sometimes parents asked their children to study subjects for which they have not interest, this mistaken ambition plays a vital role in the failure of pupils life. For instance, a student in Germany persuaded to select medical subjects in intermediate but he could not get enough marks to persue medical field, that is why most of individuals do not choose science subjects at university.
Moving to the next, declining in science subjects throughout the world can lead to the severe problems in future. Today is the era of technology that makes the lifestyle even more comfortable. However, if nation do not show interest in any research, they may not stand with the modern world. There will be the shortage of skilfull individuals including engineers, doctors and scientists. For example, International studies illustrates scientists connect society with science, so if there are not any professional in any field of scirnce, a nation can be bow down easily.
In conclusion, misconcept discourage people from taking science subjects and it badly effects the culture, development and economy of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question and give a clear overall view: students may avoid science because it feels difficult or boring, while society may face shortages of skilled professionals and fall behind technologically. The explanation about memorisation and limited practical resources is relevant, and the examples of parental pressure and a shortage of scientists help illustrate your points. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The Germany example focuses on one student’s difficulty entering medicine, but the link to why students generally avoid university science is not made explicit. Likewise, the final claim that a nation could “bow down easily” is unclear. Explain the social consequences more precisely and extend each example to show how it supports your point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction presents the main points, the first body paragraph discusses causes, the second explains effects, and the conclusion summarises the argument. Signposting such as “To commence with,” “Moving to the next,” and “In conclusion” makes the stages easy to identify. This clear paragraph structure is a strength. To make progression more natural and cohesive, rely less on formulaic transitions and connect ideas more directly. For example, the move from limited practical resources to parental pressure introduces a second cause without explaining how the two relate. Some references are also unclear, particularly “this mistaken ambition” and “they may not stand with the modern world.” State the intended connection or refer to the relevant idea more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “memorization,” “limited resources,” “research,” and “shortage of skilled individuals.” These choices allow you to discuss education and society, but the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “basic reason behind,” “failure of pupils life,” “declining in science subjects,” and “a nation can be bow down.” There are also spelling errors such as “practicle,” “persue,” and “scirnce.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate phrasing: for instance, say that students “lose interest” and that a country may “fall behind” technologically. Proofreading spelling and word forms would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, including a conditional sentence beginning “if nation do not show interest” and a complex explanation of how memorisation can reduce interest. However, control is uneven, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “pupils finds” should have a plural verb, while “parents asked” does not fit the general present-tense discussion. In “a student in Germany persuaded to select,” the sentence is missing a suitable verb construction, and “there are not any professional” has a number-agreement problem. These errors can make some relationships harder to understand. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and tense consistency, and reviewing each sentence for a complete grammatical structure.
