Student answer (Band 5.0)
In some particular country their are not enough students who chose science at university. This essay will examine the primary cause of why youth chose other majors and propose a viable solution.
Nowadays, younger generation prefered more valuable skills because it has much higher salary, competive job market and less study years compare to science major. Moreover, young individuals chose a blue collar job due to high salary per hour and many country needed a skilled worker to the job. Also studying a bachelor cost a student a debt before they even to work and science major takes a four years to complete, while skills job only require a 2-3 years study completion or even a months. For instance, many teenager face a massive student loan, having a hard time to find work that align what their course is and a low paying job. As a results they chose the most practical way to earn a decent money, not being stuck in university and finding a job that rewards the hardworking peolpe.
On the other hand, their are solutions to address this problem by making the fees charged by educational institions more affordable and promoting a scholarship for the students. This solution will gradually encourage a lot of younger generation to enrolled; because they know their are some programs that will help them to access and avail the courses that the university offer. By making the tuition more lower many students can access the tertiary education without thingking about the student loan. Also some programs of university offer such as scholarship will help the student to go a school without a tuition. For example, Harvard university offer a scholarship for individuals who has a potential. As a result they produce a more successful inividuals around the world.
Overall, the main causes why student chose a skills over science is because their are more paying salary and less studies year. While the solution can address the problem is by offering a scholoa

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify a plausible cause: students may prefer vocational routes because they appear to offer higher pay, shorter training and less debt. However, the response does not fully answer the question. The prompt asks for the effects on society, but most of the essay discusses solutions, including lower fees and scholarships; these are not a substitute for explaining social consequences. The conclusion also repeats the cause and solution rather than summarising effects. Your examples about student loans and scholarships are relevant to the points you make, but the ideas remain general and are not developed into a clear account of what society loses when fewer students study science. Address both requested parts directly and support each with specific consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a concluding statement. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “As a result” help show relationships between points. However, the overall progression is weakened because the second body paragraph presents solutions, while the task asks for effects on society. This makes the argument move away from the question rather than develop its central line. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the shift from student debt to the claim that students choose “the most practical way.” The conclusion is incomplete and does not bring the discussion together. Organise the body around causes and societal effects, and ensure each paragraph advances one of those parts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “student loan,” “blue collar job,” “scholarship,” and “tertiary education,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “more valuable skills,” “a decent money,” “a massive student loan,” and “a more successful individuals.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “competive,” “peolpe,” “institions,” and “scholoa.” Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check word forms and spelling. For example, distinguish between studying science and choosing vocational training, rather than referring broadly to “skills” or “skills job.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because it has much higher salary” and a longer example beginning “For instance.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to follow. Verb forms and agreement are inconsistent: “their are,” “younger generation prefered,” and “Harvard university offer” need correction. Articles, plurals and sentence construction also cause problems, as in “a four years to complete” and “many teenager face.” The final sentence is unfinished, which further disrupts the conclusion. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, tense and punctuation.
