Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both causes and effects, and the introduction identifies the general trend. The explanation that science requires dedication and complex problem-solving is relevant, while the possible effects on medical breakthroughs, energy and technology are also appropriate. However, these points are mostly listed rather than explained or supported with examples, and the effect on economic growth is asserted without showing how it follows. The comparison with business, marketing and fashion is also unclear as a cause of students’ choices. The conclusion repeats the main points but does not develop a clear response. The response is 21 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main point with a specific example and a clear cause-and-effect link.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on effects and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help signal movement between points. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some connections are difficult to follow. For example, the sentence about arts fields leading to quick careers does not clearly explain why this reduces science enrolment. The effects paragraph shifts from shortages of scientists to economic growth and then to government fees, without showing how these ideas relate. Some linking phrases are used mechanically rather than to express a precise relationship. Organise each paragraph around one central idea, then connect each supporting sentence explicitly to it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “scientific disciplines,” “medical breakthroughs,” “energy resources,” and “economic growth.” These choices show an effort to discuss causes and social consequences beyond basic everyday language. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make meaning unclear: “advancment,” “displines,” “the primarily cause,” and “get lot of energy of mind” are examples. Phrases such as “technology related arts” and “relief fees” also do not express the intended ideas naturally. The range is sufficient to convey the general topic, but control is inconsistent. Learn common academic collocations for education and employment, and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some longer sentence forms, including “Subjects such as physics, chemistry and advanced mathematics require…” and the contrast introduced by “Although it depends on students…”. However, attempts at complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “students to pursuing science degrees,” “which helps to students,” and “These fields are not get significant time.” There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence completeness, as in “The greatest threat economic growth.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns, with limited accurate control of subordinate clauses. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check verb forms and agreement before adding more complex clauses.
