Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response makes a limited attempt to address the topic by noting that students are less interested in science and that computer science is popular because technology is advancing. However, it does not explain the causes in enough detail, and it does not discuss any effects on society, which is a major part of the question. The opening claim that “the whole world has become a village” is not connected clearly to the task. The response also falls substantially short of the required minimum length, leaving no room to develop relevant reasons or examples. To improve, explain several causes and societal consequences, then support each with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: it begins with a general introduction and then moves to types of science and students’ preferences. The phrase “Talking about studies in science” signals a shift in focus, but the progression is difficult to follow because the ideas are not developed into a clear argument. There are no distinct paragraphs for causes and effects, and the final point about computer science does not lead to a conclusion. Use a clear structure—introduction, causes, effects, and conclusion—and connect each point with simple, accurate linking phrases. This would make the relationship between ideas easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “universities,” “programs,” “biological or medical science,” and “computer science,” so the general subject is identifiable. However, the range is narrow and several choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “few states” where “some countries” appears intended, “fastly,” and “aodpt.” The phrase “the whole world has become a village” is also vague in this context. These limitations make the writing less precise and natural. Build a wider set of terms for causes and social consequences, such as “career prospects,” “research,” and “skilled workforce,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing includes mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas, such as “Universities offer many programs about science but learners do not…” and “Now both are important but…”. These show an effort to use coordination, but the range remains limited and sentence boundaries and punctuation need more control. For example, “As present age is the age of science” lacks a natural grammatical construction, while “most of students prefer” is missing the article “the.” The sentence beginning “Talking about studies in science” is also an incomplete introductory phrase rather than a fully developed point. Practise accurate basic sentences first, then add controlled complex structures.
