Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many parts of the world, there was not much students are choosed to study science at university and this issue has become increasingly common. This essay will discuss the main causes of this problem and propose suitable solutions.

One key cause is that field of science is hard for student to join or choose this field. In other words, people don't choose a field where they can not be succeded or they put in their minds a high goal so they couldn't do it in this field. For instance, student who have struggling in science he can't keep studying this field so he work hard to change this field. Another important cause is that, students tend to technologie stuffs so they ignored the field of science. This is because in our world technology has several area and opportunities to work so young people need to improve their knowledg, which makes the situation more serious.

There are several ways to deal with this issue. To address the first cause, government should open diffrent opportunities to students and employmeents so they can choose one of them. In addition, teachers should change how to learn people and provide practical knowledge rather than theoritical, this could help reduce the seconde issue. Therefore, if this measures are applied effectively, field of science would become more manageable.

To sum up, less students don't choose to study science field is mainly caused by it's hard to learn it and young people tend to learn technology field. The most effective solution are to open diffrent opportunities and teachers should change their methods of education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify two relevant possible causes: students may find science difficult, and they may be drawn to technology-related opportunities. However, the task also asks about the effects on society, and this part is not addressed. Instead, most of the response proposes solutions, which are not requested, so the answer only partially fulfils the task. The causes are mentioned but remain unclear or insufficiently explained; for example, the claim that students choose technology does not explain how this affects science enrolment or society. To improve, explain each cause with a clear example, then discuss consequences such as shortages of scientists, slower medical or technological innovation, or greater reliance on expertise from elsewhere.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Basic linking phrases such as “One key cause,” “In addition,” and “To sum up” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, the progression is weakened because the body shifts to solutions rather than developing the requested effects, and the conclusion repeats the causes and solutions without resolving the task. Some links are also unclear, as in “this could help reduce the seconde issue,” where the reference is difficult to follow. Organise the body around the two parts of the prompt—causes and societal effects—and use clear topic sentences and references to connect each explanation to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “opportunities,” “practical knowledge,” and “theoretical,” and the reader can generally identify your intended subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “students tend to technologie stuffs,” “field of science is hard for student to join,” and “open different opportunities.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “knowledg,” “employmeents,” and “diffrent” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing education and social consequences, and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe students as being “attracted to technology-related careers” and say that governments can “expand access to science programmes.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if this measures are applied effectively” and a relative clause in “a field where they can not be succeded.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Verb forms and agreement are often inaccurate: “there was not much students are choosed” and “the most effective solution are” do not form correct structures. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “field of science” and “student who have struggling.” The sentence “people don't choose a field where they can not be succeded” shows difficulty controlling the passive construction. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, past and present forms, articles, and simpler clause patterns before adding complexity.
