Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify several plausible causes, including science being perceived as difficult, a shortage of science teachers, and higher fees or admission requirements. However, the task asks for the causes and effects on society, while your response mainly discusses causes and then proposes solutions. The effects are not explained: for example, you could discuss how fewer science graduates may limit medical research, technological innovation, or the supply of skilled workers. The conclusion also shifts to what universities should do rather than summarising the social consequences. To improve, address both parts directly and develop each main point with a clear explanation or relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Your response has separate paragraphs and uses signposting such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” and “In order to” to show movement between points. This gives it a basic overall structure. However, progression is weakened because the body moves from causes to solutions, and the requested effects are absent. Several linking phrases are repeated or do not clearly express the relationship between ideas, such as “As well as” and “Additionaly.” Some sentences also combine several points without clear connections, making the argument difficult to follow. Organise the essay around causes and societal effects, with one focused paragraph for each, and use linking words only where they accurately show how ideas relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “science subjects,” “universities,” “teachers,” “admission,” and “fees,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “students are not liked to accepting,” “easy available good marks,” and “same to same.” Spelling errors, including “universties,” “bigest,” and “Additionaly,” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise range for discussing education and social outcomes, and learn common collocations such as “choose to study,” “meet admission requirements,” and “a shortage of qualified teachers.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt longer sentences and use some subordinate structures, including “when universities not focus on science subjects” and “students are not preparing of his exams course.” However, sentence patterns are limited and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently. For instance, “students are not liked to accepting” does not form a correct verb pattern, while “the main cause … is tough” has an unclear subject and comparison. Several sentences join clauses with “and” without establishing a clear grammatical relationship. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex forms using “because,” “which,” and “as a result.” Check that each sentence has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
