Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, most of he countries some students are not prefer to study science at university. In this essay i will describe the reasons behind this and how it impact on our socities.
One predominent cause of not choosing science is that, some people find this field quite challenging beacause it involves complex theories, calculations and practical experiments. As a result, some students may feel overwhelmed by the academic pressure. Another significant reason is, some student wants to pursure their career on another fields. For example, students who passionate about business policies they selects business studies rather than others backgrounds they beleivve that non-science degree offer better career opportunities or greter flexibility in the job market.
However,if fewer students are rely on another fields rather than science ,it could have several negative effects on society. First of all, there might be shortage of sufficient doctors, engineers, teachnicians and skilledfull scientists. As a result, fewer people have available in technology development and healther centre .However, sceince and technology play a crucial role for industrail and economic development. If fewer students overlooked this fields our country leg behind from economic growth and may create shortage of professionals. However, i don,t think that every student needs to study at science, as society also depend on professionals in other fields, such as business, education, law and can establish a strong personality on these backgraounds.
In conclusion, though some students are choosing their preferable subjects rather only reliance on science field, it may sometime creates shortage of experiences but

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question by identifying academic difficulty and alternative career interests as causes, then discussing possible shortages of doctors, engineers and scientists as effects. These are relevant points, and the example of students choosing business studies helps illustrate one cause. However, several effects are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the link between fewer science graduates and slower economic growth needs a clearer explanation or a specific example. The final paragraph also ends mid-thought, so the conclusion does not clearly summarise your answer or establish a complete final position. Develop each main idea with a cause-and-effect explanation and finish with a complete conclusion to make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on effects and an attempted conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through the answer. However, progression within the effects paragraph is difficult to follow because several points are joined together, and “However” is used repeatedly where the ideas are not contrasting. Some links are also unclear, such as the movement from shortages of professionals to economic growth and then to the value of non-science careers. Use clearer topic sentences, separate distinct effects, and choose linking expressions according to the relationship between ideas. A complete concluding paragraph would also give the response a more coherent ending.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “academic pressure,” “career opportunities,” “economic development” and “technology development.” These phrases show an effort to discuss causes and social consequences. However, frequent spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the message difficult to understand, as in “predominent,” “teachnicians,” “skilledfull” and “healther centre.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “rely on another fields” and “leg behind from economic growth.” Build accuracy with common topic collocations before trying more ambitious phrasing, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions would help you explain the consequences without relying on broad or unclear wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if fewer students… it could have several negative effects.” However, errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns and often make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “some students are not prefer,” “some student wants,” and “students… they selects,” where verb forms and subject–verb agreement are not controlled. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries also need attention; for example, the opening has a missing space after the full stop, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise forming accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles and punctuation.
