Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, an increasing number of students in different countries are choosing not to study science at university. This trend can be attributed to several factors, including the difficulty of science subjects and concerns about career opportunities. In my opinion, this decision can have negative consequences for society, particularly by causing a shortage of doctors, scientists, and other skilled professionals in the future.

Overall the if we talk about the main causes.the first one is nowadays people interest is more developed in business and developing studies. In additionlly our society potrays science as a difficult subject as compared to other domains of studies that why student are lil bit scared to choosing science. Moreover the merits of science studies are so high student cant secure seats on higjhest levels. For example in 2020 when i had a option to choose my field in unversity i did not secured the admission in biotecnology beacuse of high merit and than i selected business because it gives me more opportunities in future.

this trend also causes several negative impact on society. Firstly a decrease in scieence gradutates leads towards sortage professional workers in our society. such as doctors, engineers.in result we face sortage in health care and reserch work may slow downs.Furthermore industries who relays on scientific work, may stuggle to find skill workers.which could negatively affect economic growth. Therefore, the declining interest in science education may create serious challenges for society in the future

In my oppinion, Students should choose science as their university subjects. Beacuse it will boost overall economy through innovation in scientific works.

In conclusion, We need to develop student interest in science studies beacuse it opens a lot of doors for them in future also they can help society in many aspects. Otherwise our societies and countries will face a major back setback in their growth. Government should introduce different programs and expos which develops interest in student of science studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the question and gives a relevant personal example: difficulty securing a biotechnology place led you to choose business. It also identifies possible social effects, including shortages of doctors and engineers, pressure on healthcare and research, and difficulties for science-dependent industries. However, the causes are not consistently explained: the point about students preferring business is asserted, while the link between high university entry requirements and lower science enrolment could be made clearer. The effects are also listed more than developed, and the final recommendation that students should study science shifts attention away from explaining the causes and consequences. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on effects, and a conclusion. The reader can generally follow the movement from why students avoid science to possible consequences for society. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven. The causes paragraph moves from interest in business to science being difficult and then to high entry requirements without clearly showing how these points connect. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Firstly,” and “Furthermore” help signal additions, but some are used mechanically, and the opening “Overall the if we talk about the main causes” is confusing. Improve cohesion by beginning each paragraph with a clear controlling idea and using pronouns or linking phrases to show relationships between explanations and examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses relevant topic vocabulary, including “career opportunities,” “shortage,” “health care,” “research,” “industries,” and “economic growth.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make the writing less clear. Examples include “potrays,” “sortage,” “scieence gradutates,” and “skill workers.” Some collocations are also unnatural, such as “people interest is more developed in business” and “research work may slow downs.” Aim to learn accurate word forms and common academic combinations, for example “students’ interest in business is growing,” “a shortage of skilled workers,” and “research may slow down.” Proofreading spelling would also make your meaning easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “industries who relays on scientific work” and a conditional structure beginning “Otherwise our societies and countries will face…”. However, sentence structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. For example, “the first one is nowadays people interest…” lacks clear sentence boundaries, while “student cant secure seats” and “industries who relays” show problems with number and agreement. Articles and verb forms are also inconsistent, as in “i had a option” and “i did not secured.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and past-tense forms, and use punctuation to separate ideas.
