Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify possible causes, including difficult entrance tests, favouritism or corruption, and limited university funding, and you begin to mention effects such as stress and depression. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the causes are not clearly explained, and the effects on society are barely developed beyond the impact on individual students. The opening also misreads the prompt by saying students are “getting admission” in low numbers, whereas the task concerns students choosing not to study science. The final point is cut off, leaving the discussion incomplete. The response is also 39 words below the required minimum. To improve, explain why students avoid science and develop several clear societal consequences with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by discussion of causes and then effects, and linking expressions such as “Another striking reason,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover” signal new points. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are not consistently connected or clearly grouped. For example, the claim that capable students miss admission because of references is confusing, and the paragraph shifts from university budgets to students’ health without explaining the link. The unfinished final phrase, “panic att,” also leaves the ending abrupt. Use separate, focused paragraphs for causes and effects, and make each point follow logically from the previous one with clear explanations.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “entry test,” “university admissions,” “corruption,” “labs,” “depression,” and “panic.” These choices show an effort to discuss education and its consequences. However, vocabulary is often inaccurate, repetitive, or difficult to understand, which limits how clearly the ideas are communicated. Examples include “minimum students,” “science prefrences,” “satima for pass,” and “use refrence”; spelling errors such as “cource,” “reletives,” and “consequentely” also occur. Some phrases, such as “science study consist of a lot of money,” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Build accuracy with common academic collocations and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, including a concession beginning “although” and a cause-and-effect construction with “because.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “In this essay will discuss” lacks a subject, while “a lot of student are fail” combines an incorrect plural form with an incorrect verb construction. Agreement and sentence structure are also problematic in “science study consist” and “they take not enough students.” The final sentence is incomplete, further affecting clarity. Practise forming complete clauses, matching subjects and verbs, and using accurate verb patterns; then proofread each sentence to ensure it is complete and understandable.
