Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify relevant causes, including the perceived difficulty of science and students’ preference for subjects linked to AI, programming and technology. However, the response addresses only the causes: the question also asks about effects on society, and no societal consequences are explained. The ideas that science requires concentration and that technology-related careers may offer good salaries are repeated rather than developed with examples or explanation. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, which limits how fully you can answer and support both parts. To improve, explain effects such as shortages of scientists or slower medical and technological progress, then support each main point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic line of thought: you first discuss science being difficult, then students’ interest in AI and technology-related subjects. Simple links such as “also” and “because” help show how some ideas relate. However, the response is presented as one block, with no clear introduction, developed body paragraphs or conclusion. The repeated points about science being complicated and requiring hard work also make progression difficult to follow, and the effects part of the task is absent. Organise the answer into paragraphs—one for causes and one for societal effects—and use clear topic sentences and references to connect each explanation to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “science,” “concentration,” “programation,” “artificial intelligence” and “salary,” so the reader can identify the general subject of your ideas. However, the range is narrow and several expressions are repeated, particularly “student” and “little bit.” Spelling and word-choice problems, such as “dificulte,” “inteligebce,” “slaary” and “mitigate to chose,” make parts of the response harder to understand and reduce precision. Aim to learn accurate forms and natural collocations for education and employment, such as “choose to study,” “find a subject challenging” and “career prospects.” This would make your explanations clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example by using “because” to explain why students may prefer technology-related subjects. This shows an effort to express cause and effect. However, sentence structures are mostly simple or joined with “and,” and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries occur throughout. For instance, “many student face” needs plural agreement, while “science … need” requires a singular verb; “science it is” also has an unnecessary subject pronoun. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, with several sentences running together. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and full stops.
