Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both causes and effects, and the Nepal example gives the discussion a relevant, specific detail. The causes you identify—difficulty with science and the cost of study—are on topic, while the effects include fewer researchers, slower technological development, and skilled graduates leaving their country. However, these points are only partly explained. For example, the claim that science requires a “high IQ” is asserted rather than supported, and the link between fewer science students and university jobs disappearing is unclear. The conclusion repeats the main points but does not clarify their consequences. Develop each cause and effect with a clear explanation or example, and make the relationship between them more precise so the response addresses the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and effects, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sections, and phrases such as “For example” signal supporting details. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some connections are difficult to follow. In the causes paragraph, the discussion moves from intelligence and patience to resources and tuition without clearly showing how these points relate. The sentence beginning “So those university and lecutres jobs might be gone” does not follow logically from the preceding point about national spending. Some linking expressions are also awkward or repetitive. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, then explain it before adding an example; use clear references to show how each sentence connects.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “science and technology,” “innovation,” “researcher,” and “infrastructure,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as students going abroad and not returning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, including “strong scene of hummer,” “high IQ person,” and “direct effects by the society.” Frequent spelling errors—such as “scince,” “experiement,” and “infrastrucure”—also distract the reader. Build a reliable set of phrases for discussing education, costs, and social consequences, and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise, natural combinations such as “tuition fees,” “shortage of researchers,” and “brain drain.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“it might…”) and a subordinate clause beginning “because.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and agreement sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “countries not enough pupils are selecting” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “it needs to higher cost” and “Those students are settle in the abroad” contain faulty patterns. Several sentences also join ideas without clear grammatical links. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add clauses using “because,” “although,” or “which.” Check articles and verb forms when revising each sentence.
