Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
in many countries fewer students choose the science subject at university it has a several reasons and disadvantages
there are many reason why student don not choose science because science subject is very complex and its equation and formulas is very hard and time taking process and difficult to understand and in science course and very difficult to find job because they want a proper experience and a lot of competition in market and that s why most of the student choose other subject such as arts computer because they seem very easier and easy to understand and easier to explan and their duration is very small and in markets no difficult to find a job there is less competition in this jobs and they dont require a experience
this situation can have a serious effect on society because there is less doctor engineer and architecture and we need a help from other country in medical department .In other country people develop a lot of modern technology and saving energy technique and infracstructure development and they become a more powerfull country because of their tecnology and ability to create a robot thats do many task
In conclusion, students may avoid science because it is difficult and requires many years of study. However, this trend can lead to a shortage of skilled professionals and slow scientific progress. Governments and universities should provide scholarships and better career guidance to encourage more students to study science.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that science is difficult and time-consuming, and you describe possible social effects, including shortages of doctors and engineers and slower technological development. The conclusion also gives a clear summary and proposes scholarships and career guidance. However, the causes and effects are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example, and some points—such as other subjects being easier and jobs having less competition—need clearer justification. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum. Develop each main idea with a brief explanation or relevant example, and ensure the response meets the stated length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a recognisable overall structure: the response moves from causes to effects and then to a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sections. However, the first two body paragraphs consist largely of long, loosely connected strings of ideas, with limited sentence boundaries and few clear links between claims. For example, the explanation of science being difficult shifts quickly to job competition and then to the appeal of other subjects. The effects paragraph also moves from professional shortages to technology without showing the connection clearly. Use separate sentences for each main point, organise causes and effects in a clear sequence, and add linking phrases that show relationships rather than relying mainly on “and” or “because.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “science,” “competition,” “medical department,” “modern technology,” and “scientific progress.” These choices make the general subject clear. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, such as “difficult,” “easy,” and “job.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “saving energy technique,” “in markets,” and “a proper experience”; spelling errors such as “infracstructure” and “tecnology” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for causes and consequences, and check spelling and collocations. For instance, describe “a shortage of qualified professionals” or “limited employment prospects” rather than repeating general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to explain causes and consequences using clauses with “because,” and the final paragraph includes a contrast introduced by “However.” These show some effort to connect ideas grammatically. Nevertheless, the range of sentence structures is limited, and many sentences contain frequent errors that make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “there are many reason why student don not choose science” and “there is less doctor engineer and architecture,” where agreement, plurals, and sentence construction are problematic. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, particularly in the long opening paragraphs. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms, then combine ideas using accurate complex structures.
