Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify plausible causes, particularly the long and costly route into medicine and the appeal of quicker routes to income. The example of medical training in Canada and the USA gives some relevant support. However, the task asks about effects on society as well as causes, and this part is only touched on indirectly through the idea that people want to settle down quickly. The conclusion repeats this point rather than explaining wider consequences, such as shortages of healthcare workers or reduced scientific innovation. The response also does not meet the stated 250-word minimum, so the discussion remains notably limited. To improve, address both questions explicitly and develop each main idea with a clear explanation and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic overall sequence: an opening identifies possible causes, the next sections discuss training demands and social-media influence, and a final sentence summarises the preference for quicker careers. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the response has limited paragraph development, and the effects on society do not receive a distinct place in the progression. Linking phrases such as “To conclude” and “To sum up” are used, but the first introduces a detail about training rather than a conclusion, so the connection is not always logical. Some ideas also run together, especially the sentence beginning “Due to the social media.” Use separate paragraphs for causes and effects, and connect each claim to its explanation with clearer referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “student loan,” “specialization,” “short term program,” and “quick flow of cash,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts difficult to understand. For example, “majority of pupiles” and “different field” do not express the intended meaning naturally, while “quick flow of cash” is an awkward collocation. Spelling errors such as “thiers,” “instence,” and “straigth” are also noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “most students,” “other fields,” and “a steady income.” Building a small set of precise terms for university study and its social consequences would make the argument clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including the sentence explaining the stages of medical training and the clause beginning “Due to the social media.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure and basic grammar frequently make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “There could many factors,” “thiers a long path,” and “people now a days focus,” where required verbs, articles, or grammatical forms are missing or incorrect. The long medical-training sentence also contains several clauses joined without clear punctuation, making its structure difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using controlled subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
