Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: financial barriers, difficulty with science, and limited opportunities are offered as causes, while shortages of doctors and vaccines are presented as social effects. However, the response only partially develops these points. The opening says students are not choosing science at “Master’s level,” which narrows the question about university study without explanation, and “I firmly agree with this notion” does not establish a clear position on the causes and effects. The examples about your cousin and COVID-19 are relevant, but the claims about university research are vague and do not explain the links in detail. To strengthen the response, explain how each cause discourages students and how fewer science graduates affect society beyond healthcare, using specific, credible examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on effects, and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the two main parts of the task. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, including “To illustrate with,” “To elaborate with,” and “To demonstrate with.” The repeated “Resultantly” also makes the connections feel mechanical rather than clear. Some ideas are placed next to each other without enough explanation—for example, the claim about limited opportunities and the reference to Cambridge University. Use straightforward topic sentences, then develop each point in a logical sequence, with clear references showing how examples support the main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, such as “financial obstacles,” “opportunities,” “disaster,” and “vaccination,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the message difficult to follow. Examples include “join science,” “valid assistance,” “proper medician,” and “forsake for his education.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “eleborate,” “studie,” and “donot” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural topic phrases, such as “study a science degree,” “financial constraints,” and “medical treatment,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. Avoid using formal-sounding phrases unless you are sure they fit the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You try to use both simple and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “when covid 19 spread all over the world.” However, the range is limited, and attempts at longer structures often contain errors that make the reader pause. For example, “some students feel difficulty in science subjects … because in this level they learn many other things” has unclear sentence structure, while “there are also lack of opportunities” shows an agreement problem. Articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “many individual had died” and the run-on construction “there are many disease spread … and there are no proper…” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms, and divide complex ideas into controlled sentences.
