Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this contemporary era, it is often argued that in range of nations pupils usually do not choose the field of science at university for their study. This essay will scrutinize the causes along with their effects that arise on the society.
One of the key reasons why this is the cause is studies are becoming harder. To elaborate this, in the recent times, althoughscience has invented many technologies that becomes beneficial for the socities. However, this inevention becomes tough for the students because it involves in their studies. But those students who loves the science can easily mangaed, but the students who just choose without the further knowledge for them it become very tough. Moreover, a segment of individuals do not choose the field of science because they find it easy the opposites field such as field of commerce for those who like management and accounts and other one is arts who likes teaching. Hence, this are the reasons why this is the cause.
Paradoxically, this development also leads to several circumtances. First and foremost is there will be less findings. To explain it out, we all know the scientist has find many technologies that makes are daily life convenient and flexible such as mobile phones for entertainment and communication and cars for easy commute. However, if the students do not enroll in this field so slowly the invention of findings will decreased which affect directly to the society. Secondly, this also affect on the atmosphere. As students will not choose this field for study so how they can the solution to metigates this types of issues.
Conclusively, pupils are choosing science for studies because nowadays it becomes very tough and it also directly affect the society as there will low numbers for finding and metigating the issues like global warming.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question by giving reasons for low science enrolment and describing possible effects on society. The points about science being difficult and students preferring commerce or arts are relevant, as are the possible decline in discoveries and reduced capacity to address climate change. However, the causes are not fully explained: for example, the contrast between science and other subjects is asserted rather than supported with a clear reason why students find those alternatives more attractive. The effects are also somewhat general, and the link between fewer students and less innovation could be developed with a specific example. The conclusion is unclear because it says pupils “are choosing science,” which conflicts with the issue in the prompt. Clarify your position and extend the main ideas with explanation or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on effects, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the essay, and signposts such as “Moreover” and “Secondly” indicate the sequence of points. However, some linking is mechanical or confusing. “Hence, this are the reasons why this is the cause” repeats the same idea without summarising it clearly, while “Paradoxically” does not express the relationship between the causes and effects. Some references are also unclear, such as “this development” and “this field.” Organise each body paragraph around a clear main point, then explain it and show its consequence; use linking phrases only when their meaning fits the relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “technologies,” “global warming,” “communication,” and “commute,” and the reader can generally identify your intended ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “scrutinize the causes.” However, inaccurate word choice, spelling, and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “less findings,” “invention of findings,” “circumtances,” and “metigates.” Phrases such as “field of science for their study” and “affect on the atmosphere” are also unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding formal-sounding words: for instance, use “scientific discoveries,” “reduce emissions,” and “study science at university.” Proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession beginning “although” and conditional reasoning about what may happen if fewer students study science. However, control is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. For example, “studies are becoming harder” needs a clearer grammatical connection to the claim, while “those students who loves” has subject–verb disagreement. In “if the students do not enroll in this field so slowly the invention … will decreased,” the conditional structure and verb forms are faulty. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and verb forms before adding more complex structures.
