Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both required parts by giving possible causes—interest in computer-related degrees, financial security, and the perceived difficulty of science—and effects such as fewer doctors and worsening environmental problems. These points are relevant, but several are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between business degrees and high salaries is not clearly connected to students’ choice of science, while the claim that fewer science students lead to more illness needs a clearer explanation. The final paragraph introduces ways to encourage students, which are not requested, and the conclusion repeats causes without clearly summarising the effects. Develop the cause-and-effect reasoning and support the main points with specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on effects, a paragraph on possible measures, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “firstly,” “secondly,” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the main sections. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, and the extra paragraph about measures interrupts the focus on causes and effects. Some connections between claims are unclear, particularly the move from fewer doctors to serious illness and death. The conclusion also repeats earlier material rather than bringing the discussion together. Keep each body paragraph focused on one part of the question, and use clearer links to show how each cause or effect follows.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “financial security,” “environmental scientist,” “career opportunities,” and “high salaries,” so the reader can identify the subject of each point. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “they mental abilty is limited,” “environmental problem is rose,” and “career understarding.” Spelling errors such as “disscus,” “bussiness,” and “techonlogy” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable set of phrases for discussing university choices and social consequences, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “perceived as difficult” and “a shortage of doctors.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, including “after getting bussiness related degree, a student can get a good job,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in examples such as “science is a vital subject that help” and “lack of students interest in science create many impacts.” Articles and plural forms are also often missing or incorrect, as in “numbers of doctor is reduced.” Some sentence patterns are incomplete or unclear, including “thirdly, some student are able to student science.” These errors can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural nouns, then check each sentence for a complete and clear structure.
