Student answer (Band 5.0)
In several countries not enough students are choosing to study science course at university. There are several reasons of such, a behaviour and some noticeable consequences as well. Everything will be mention in the upcoming paragraph with relevant examples.
In many countries, students dont choose science course in different universities, because some of them not interested in science and other youngsters choosing different courses to gain more knowledge and for better future, reason is they want to build their future in other fields like Art, engineering and medical, except science.
Apart from this, some students cant afford universities fees for science course, so they chose different courses who quite expensive and affordable for them. In additon, several countries universitiy provides scohlarship for students in revelant course and ofcourse in science field too. Morever, most of the adolscents chose engieering or art fields because, they really dont like science course.
On the other hand, choosing science courses and to study them deeply its very helpful for students and for everyone, the reason is if we study science it teach us a lot about new technology and modern lifestyle and it also helps to widen up our knowledge and improve learning and technical skills. if affects the students life if they dont show interest on science, because, in this contemporary world everything works on science like smart phones and different electronic gadgets. if you dont use science then you cant easily survive in this modern age, so in my opinion studying science is important for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify plausible causes, including low interest in science and students choosing other fields, and you mention affordability and scholarships. You also attempt to explain a societal effect by linking science study with technology and modern life. However, the response only partially addresses the task: the effects are discussed mainly as benefits to individual students, rather than clearly explaining consequences for society, such as shortages of scientific workers or slower innovation. Several points are repeated or unclear, and examples are not developed. The response contains 244 words, six below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop both causes and social effects with specific explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting causes, and a final paragraph about the value of science. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited because ideas within the causes paragraphs repeat—for example, students’ lack of interest and preference for art or engineering appear more than once—and the final paragraph shifts from effects on society to advice about why everyone should study science. Linking phrases such as “Apart from this,” “In addition,” and “On the other hand” are used, but some do not show the relationship between ideas accurately. Organise each paragraph around one clear point, use references such as “this shortage” clearly, and connect causes to specific societal consequences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “scholarship,” “technical skills,” “modern lifestyle,” and “electronic gadgets,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, such as “reasons of such,” “science course,” and “widen up our knowledge.” Repetition of “science,” “students,” and “course” also makes the response less precise. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “additon,” “universitiy,” “scohlarship,” and “adolscents,” which reduce accuracy. Build a more varied set of expressions for causes and social impacts, and check spelling and collocations carefully so your ideas sound natural and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and “so,” and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “There are several reasons of such, a behaviour,” “some of them not interested,” and “if we study science it teach us,” where sentence construction, missing verbs, or subject–verb agreement cause problems. There are also errors with articles and plurals, as in “science course” and “universities fees,” and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, especially in the final paragraph. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
