Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify two relevant causes—high study costs and limited interest in science—and begin to describe a possible social effect, namely having fewer doctors. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the effects section stops after one incomplete explanation, and the causes are asserted rather than developed with clear, relevant support. The example about students preferring other fields is general and does not explain why this preference occurs. The response also does not meet the stated 250-word minimum, which limits how fully you can answer both parts. To improve, explain each cause and effect in a complete paragraph, show how each affects society, and add a specific example or consequence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, a paragraph about causes, and a paragraph about effects. Linking expressions such as “for example,” “therefore,” and “as a consequence” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because the effects paragraph ends abruptly, and some sentences repeat the same point about lack of interest without adding a new step. Several full stops and paragraph openings interrupt the flow, while “not only this” does not lead to a clearly balanced second point. Use one paragraph for causes and another for effects, with each paragraph moving from a clear main idea to explanation and example. Check that every linking phrase accurately signals the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “science,” “university,” “course,” “medical sector,” and “society,” so the general subject is recognisable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “one of the most significant causes” and “as a consequence.” However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make several words difficult to process, including “scolars,” “expensis,” “faverate,” and “predominent.” Some choices are also imprecise: “virus” does not clearly express the intended health consequence, and “science stream” is not a natural fit for university study here. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning collocations such as “tuition fees,” “pursue a degree,” and “shortage of healthcare professionals.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect construction with “therefore” and an example introduced by “for example.” However, sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making relationships unclear. For instance, “one of the most significant causes why student are not choosing… due to…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence, and “This essay highlight causes” has subject–verb agreement and article problems. The final sentence, “if increase the number of patents so that time people suffer in virus,” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise complete sentences with an explicit subject and verb, consistent plural forms, and accurate articles. Then proofread punctuation and capitalisation, especially at sentence beginnings.
