Student answer (Band 5.5)

In several nations, very few students are interested to study science at institutions. This is mainly because studying sciense is exceptionally expensive and this subject is hard to understand for many students as well. As a result, it can reduce productivity and creativity in society.

One primary reason why many students are not choosing science is that practicing this subject is way more expensive. In many developing countries, science schools fees are higher than other schools, which lead student to think again whether they should choose science. For example, a student from low-income family can not afford fees. As a result, they initiallly decide to not to choose science. Furthermore, lack of science practice equipment and unefficient teaching method can make learnig science more harder. Goverments should take several steps to help students to choose science and practice science effectively.

In the terms of effects on society, if students take decision to not to choose science, it could negatively effect in socio-economy and create situation where people are not productive or creative, allowing less development in many essential sectors such as medical, engeneering and many other sections. Consequently, people will suffer with many health problems for less medication and unsufficient doctors.

In conclusion, in many developing countries, students do not schoose science at university because its expw

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both causes and effects, identifying cost, difficulty, and inadequate equipment or teaching as possible reasons, then linking fewer science graduates to lower productivity and problems in medicine and engineering. These points are relevant, but they are only briefly explained: for instance, the example of a low-income student repeats the affordability point without showing its wider impact, and the effects are asserted rather than supported with a specific example. The conclusion is cut off, so it does not provide a complete summary. The response also falls 33 words short of the required minimum. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or example, and finish the conclusion so all parts of the task are addressed more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on effects, and an attempted conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the answer. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “As a result,” and “Consequently” show an effort to connect ideas, but some links are repetitive or do not make the relationship precise. For example, the move from limited science study to health problems and insufficient doctors needs a clearer explanation. The final paragraph ends mid-sentence, disrupting the overall progression. Organise each body paragraph around one central point, explain how each supporting detail connects to it, and complete the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “productivity,” “creativity,” “low-income family,” and references to “medical” and “engineering” sectors. This gives the response enough vocabulary to communicate its main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts less clear, such as “science schools fees,” “unefficient teaching method,” and “less medication.” There are also misspellings including “sciense,” “initiallly,” and “Goverments.” Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully. For example, describe the cost of “science courses or laboratory equipment,” and explain that a shortage of trained professionals may reduce access to healthcare.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if students take decision to not to choose science, it could…” and a relative clause in “a student from low-income family can not afford fees.” These attempts show some range, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms recur: “which lead student to think again” has agreement and article problems, while “make learnig science more harder” has an incorrect verb pattern and comparative form. The final sentence is incomplete, and “because its expw” leaves the conclusion unfinished. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for completeness.
