Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the airport plans, but the presentation is somewhat disorganized. While you identify key changes like the addition of gates and new facilities, the description of the 'current' layout is slightly confusing and lacks a clear overview. To improve, ensure you provide a concise summary of the most significant changes in the introduction. The comparison between the two maps is present, but it could be more structured by grouping features logically (e.g., transport, facilities, and gates) rather than listing them in a way that feels repetitive. Ensure you clearly distinguish between the 'before' and 'after' states to help the reader follow the transformation more easily.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of cohesive devices. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures and lack transition words to link your points (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'subsequently'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when you mention 'after that' repeatedly without specifying the location or the process clearly. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words to connect your sentences and paragraphs, which will help the reader navigate your description of the airport layout more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks precision. You use basic terms like 'there is', 'available', and 'added' frequently. While these words communicate the message, they do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'passingers' (passengers) and 'facilated' (facilitated). To improve, try to incorporate more specific vocabulary related to maps and diagrams, such as 'situated', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'transformed', and ensure you proofread for spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempts at complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'two maps... is shown'), missing articles ('in airport's premises'), and awkward phrasing ('the departure and arrivals in the cafeteria is now available'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization or commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Try to vary your sentence structures by using relative clauses or passive voice, which is particularly useful for describing processes and changes in diagrams.
