Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers the main features of the airport redevelopment, including the expansion of gates and the addition of new facilities like the sky train and shops. You have successfully identified the key changes between the present and future plans. However, the report could be improved by grouping information more logically to facilitate comparison. For instance, instead of describing the present and future separately in each paragraph, you could focus on specific areas (e.g., the terminal layout vs. the new amenities). While you have highlighted the main features, some descriptions of locations are slightly confusing, such as the exact placement of the new cafe and bag drop. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'In addition,' and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'that gates are estimated to expand.' The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., using 'these' or 'the former/latter') would help to avoid repetition and make the text more cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amenities,' 'predicated,' 'modification,' and 'anticipated.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'maps elucidates' (should be 'map elucidates' or 'maps elucidate') and 'in recent time' (should be 'currently'). Additionally, 'propose structure' should be 'proposed structure.' While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing spatial changes and ensure correct word forms are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('maps elucidates,' 'that gates are') and article usage ('the sky train in anticipated'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'the number of of arrival and departure gates.' While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the information. To achieve a higher score, you should proofread your work to correct basic agreement errors and ensure that your sentence structures are more varied and consistently accurate.
