The plans below show the site of an airport now and how it will look after redevelopment next year.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

SOUTHWEST AIRPORT

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The diagram illustrates the future upgradation plan of southwest airport. Curently, airport is divided in to two parts each dedicated to departures and arrivals of passengers with a common place for gates.

The airport will go through major changes which includes greatly increasing number of gates, adding shops, creating dedicated space for car hire, atm and a cafe.

Number of entrance, for both arrivals and departures have been increased from one to two. Departures section, after development, will have bag drop in place of check-in, check-in will be moved to cafe's place. Cafe will be relocated to west of departure entrance. Newly, shops will be constructed in departures sections after security passport control. Arrivals section will also be transformed by adding new cafe, atm and dedicated place for car hire. The common place, where different gates are placed will be completely transformed from rectangular shaped to Y shaped with number of gates increased from 8 to 16 and walkway replaced with sky train.
