Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the airport redevelopment, such as the increase in gates and the addition of new facilities like the sky train and ATM. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. While the task is addressed, the reporting of information is fragmented and lacks a professional, analytical tone. Some details, such as the specific locations of the cafe and check-in, are described in a way that is difficult to follow without a clear reference to the visual layout. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory overview and group related information logically.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'After development' or 'The location of'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the changes between the 'now' and 'next year' plans. Improving the use of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' would help create a smoother flow between the sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to describe the changes with precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'redevlopment', 'eigth', 'pessangers', 'tabel', and 'shps'. These errors, combined with limited word choice, hinder the overall quality of the response. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to maps and diagrams, such as 'expanded', 'relocated', 'installed', or 'situated', and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'In this image, shows...', 'the major update in gates have 18 gates', 'ATM machine have been installed') and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence variety will be crucial for improvement.
