Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the task. While you have identified some key features of the airport redevelopment, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. The description is somewhat fragmented, and the failure to reach the required length means that the information is not fully developed. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory summary of the overall trend and expand on the comparisons between the 'now' and 'next year' plans to ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed comprehensively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and mechanical. For example, the transition between the description of the departure area and the arrival area is abrupt. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider range of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that referencing is clear; for instance, 'departure hobby' and 'arrival hobby' appear to be misuses of the word 'lobby', which disrupts the flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as using 'hobby' instead of 'lobby' and 'solve travel expenses' instead of 'provide financial services'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to airport infrastructure, such as 'terminal', 'concourse', or 'amenities'. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated collocations will help you convey information more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'Southwest airport will undergoing' (should be 'will undergo'), 'an ATMs' (should be 'ATMs'), and 'offering meals to traveler' (should be 'travelers'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. While your meaning is generally clear, increasing the accuracy of your sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will help you achieve a higher score.
