The plans below show the site of an airport now and how it will look after redevelopment next year.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
SOUTHWEST AIRPORT
Student answer (Band 7.5)
The two plans compare the site of the southwest airport that how it currently looks and how it will look after redevelopment the following year.
Overall, it can be seen that an airport will be more modernized and expanded. Passengers will have more facilities throughout an airport in terms of sky train, bag drop center, accounting facility, and transportation from the airport to their destination in the form of cabs. The redevelopment also focused on managing a greater number of flights at the same time by increasing gates.
At present, there is a walkway area that connects different terminals, but by increasing the number of gates, the government will introduce a new concept of sky train, connecting different terminals along the immigration area. Once the security area is passed, there are no shops present at the moment, but next year several shops will be available. However, looking at the check-in counter, which is on the west side, will be shifted to the opposite side. A cafe shop will be relocated to the diagonal side.
On the other hand, in the arrivals area no facilities are currently available, but next year it will have several facilities, such as ATMs for deposit and withdrawal of money, a cafe shop for passengers of connected flights, and cab hire for transportation of passengers landing at the airport. Currently, one entrance is available for the departure and another for the arrival, but this will be increased to two, respectively.
