Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the airport redevelopment, such as the increase in gates and the addition of new facilities like the sky train and car hire. However, the analysis is quite superficial. For instance, it mentions 'shops are invented nearby the doors,' which is an inaccurate description of the visual data. The report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes, which is a requirement for a high band score. The information is presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and the comparison between the 'present' and 'future' states could be more precise and analytical rather than just descriptive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While there are some cohesive devices used, such as 'first of all,' 'secondly,' and 'lastly,' they are used in a mechanical and repetitive way. The paragraphing is inconsistent, with some very short paragraphs that do not effectively group related information. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is often abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the ideas throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'convinent' (convenient), 'trevelling' (travelling), and 'vehicals' (vehicles). The word choice is often imprecise; for example, the phrase 'shops are invented' is incorrect in this context, as shops are 'added' or 'constructed.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the changes in the airport layout with any degree of sophistication or precision, relying heavily on basic, everyday language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('diagrams shows'), incorrect tense usage ('departures and arrivals becomes'), and missing articles ('add on 10 more for the easy access to airport'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the clarity of the message, though the overall meaning remains understandable.
