Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the changes but fails to maintain an objective, analytical tone. Instead of reporting the features, you use subjective language like 'far superior' and 'far inferior', which is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. Furthermore, the description of the airport layout is inaccurate and confusing; for example, describing a 'check-in' as a place to 'check whether people carry illegal things' is factually incorrect and reflects a misunderstanding of airport functions. While you cover the main areas, the lack of clear, objective reporting and the inclusion of subjective opinions prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on describing the physical changes (e.g., the addition of a sky train, new shops, and cafes) without adding personal commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Turning, to the blue print' and 'In additional'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the spatial layout of the airport. The transition between the current state and the future state lacks a clear comparative structure, which is essential for this task. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as one paragraph for the current layout and one for the proposed changes.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use phrases like 'as usual' and 'far more bigger', which is grammatically incorrect and stylistically poor. There is a lack of precise terminology related to airport facilities; for instance, 'a car for hire' is an awkward way to describe a baggage trolley or rental service. You rely on basic adjectives like 'empty' or 'heavy' rather than more descriptive, academic vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to maps and diagrams, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', 'integrated', and 'modernized', and avoid informal or subjective language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people does not has to walk'), incorrect comparative structures ('far more bigger'), and awkward sentence construction ('there is a walk in areas where passenger can walk through'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex forms. Proofreading for common errors like 'does/do' and 'is/are' will significantly improve your accuracy.
