Student answer (Band 5.0)

This is the re development plan of Southwest Airport. In the left side of this plan shows the current scenario and right side shows the scenario after development. In the present time, the entry gates are limited. But after development the number of gates are increased like now its only 8 gates but after development it will 18 gates. It is a most pleasurable things for the passengers to avoid rush to entry. The another most important thing is there will be a shuttle train for passengers in the walkway. Now there is no shop in the airport but after the development, there will a space in the left side of the gate for shops. After development, the airport will get check in and bag drop facilities in the left side. After development, it will be great facilities for the arrival passengers to get cafe, ATM, car hire at the same time and same location in the airport area after arrival. So the airport will give more pleasure and facilities after development than now.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main features of the redevelopment, such as the increase in gates, the addition of a shuttle train, and new facilities like shops and check-in areas. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the overall changes, which is a requirement for Task 1. The description is somewhat repetitive and relies on a list-like approach rather than a structured comparison. To improve, you should group related features together and provide a clear introductory summary that highlights the most significant transformation, such as the airport's expansion and modernization of passenger services.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of paragraphing, which is essential for separating the introduction, overview, and specific details. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'but' and 'after development', they are used repetitively and mechanically. The flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed, and the lack of clear logical progression between the current state and the future state hinders the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and somewhat informal. Phrases like 'most pleasurable things' and 'great facilities' are imprecise and do not reflect the academic tone required for this task. There is also a tendency to repeat the phrase 'after development' throughout the text, which limits the range of vocabulary. To achieve a higher score, you should use more precise terminology related to maps and changes, such as 'expanded', 'relocated', 'constructed', or 'transformed', and avoid overly simplistic language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('in the left side'), subject-verb agreement ('it will 18 gates'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain awkward phrasing, such as 'it is a most pleasurable things'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits the grammatical range. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent errors in basic grammar and punctuation detract from the overall quality of the writing.
