Student answer (Band 5.5)

The figures reflect the current and future condition after refurbishment of the site of the airport.

Clearly, the airport will have new facilities such as, bag drop, ATM, sky train, car hires as well as the improvement of current facilities such as increasing of the gates.

First and foremost, the number of entry and exit gates will be doubled, ensuring more easier passenger's movement. The car hire will be there after the development along with ATM and cafe which will make the arrival of the passenger more easy. In the departure section, cafe will be shifting closer to the gate and a bag drop will be there ensuring easier processing before flight.

The immigration services will be same as before but a shop will be there in which passengers can buy their necessary items. Additionally, a sky train will be installed making quicker movement and the total area will increase making a new "V" shape. Overall, the after refurbished airport will be a time saving, user friendly and a modern one compared to the current one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the airport redevelopment, such as the expansion of gates, the addition of a sky train, and the new layout. You provided a clear overview and made relevant comparisons between the current and future states. However, the response lacks a clear structure; it is presented as a single block of text rather than distinct paragraphs for the introduction, overview, and body details. To improve, ensure you group related information logically. While you covered the key changes, the description of the 'V' shape is a bit vague, and more precise terminology regarding the spatial layout would enhance the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is somewhat coherent, but the lack of paragraphing significantly impacts the flow of information. While you use some cohesive devices like 'First and foremost', 'Additionally', and 'Overall', the transition between ideas feels mechanical. The absence of clear paragraph breaks makes it difficult for the reader to distinguish between the overview and the specific details of the airport's transformation. To reach a higher band, you must organize your response into logical paragraphs—typically an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on different areas of the airport—to guide the reader through your analysis more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes clearly. You use terms like 'refurbishment', 'facilities', and 'immigration services' appropriately. However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'more easier' (which is grammatically incorrect) and 'make the arrival of the passenger more easy'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive structures. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated vocabulary related to spatial changes and infrastructure development would help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'more easier' is a double comparative error, and 'the after refurbished airport' is awkward phrasing. There are also issues with article usage and prepositions, such as 'in the departure section, cafe will be shifting'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in grammar and punctuation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that comparative adjectives are used correctly.
