Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plans of how the airport is now and how it will look after the redevelopement is illustrated here.

Overall, in the redevelopment plan of airport , sky train has been made instead of a walkway. Moreover atm , care hire , shops and bag drop has been introduced.

After redevelopment , at the arrival one more lane is added so now there will be 2 ways to get into the airport . in addition to that facility of car hire and ATM has been introduced. The cafe which was near security passport control is now shifted after the ATM near passport control customs. Moving forward different shop has been introduced on the north west side of airport.

Moreover , instead of walkway sky train has been introduced. Now there are 1-8 gates which will be more than double ie 18 after the redevelopment. Furthermore near the departure another cafe has been designed with bag drop on its north side where now is the check in counter. The check in is shifted slightly to the east . The departures also added a gate and afterwards there will be 2 ways to depart from the airport

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the airport redevelopment, such as the addition of the sky train, new gates, and the relocation of facilities. However, the response lacks a clear, analytical overview of the most significant changes. While you mention some details, the report feels more like a list of changes rather than a cohesive summary. To improve, ensure you group information logically (e.g., passenger facilities vs. operational infrastructure) and provide a more comprehensive summary of the overall transformation in the introduction or overview paragraph. Some details, such as the specific gate numbers, are mentioned, but the overall spatial relationship between the old and new layouts could be described more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Moreover', 'In addition to that', 'Moving forward'). The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the arrival area and the shops feels abrupt. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus. Referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas could be smoother to better guide the reader through the changes.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the airport features, such as 'redevelopment', 'passport control', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'sky train has been made' (should be 'installed' or 'constructed') and 'at the arrival' (should be 'in the arrivals area'). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'redevelopement' and 'care hire'. To improve, focus on using more precise verbs and nouns related to map descriptions and ensure you check your spelling of common terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the airport', 'the arrival'), prepositions, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'different shop has been introduced' should be 'different shops have been introduced'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing spaces before commas and incorrect capitalization. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve accuracy.
