Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some key features of the airport redevelopment, the summary is quite brief and lacks a clear, analytical overview. You mention that the airport will look 'totally different,' but you do not highlight the most significant changes, such as the expansion of the terminal or the addition of the sky train, in a structured way. To improve, ensure you provide a more detailed comparison between the 'now' and 'future' states and ensure the response meets the minimum length to allow for full development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. For example, the use of 'With the first expression of picture' is unnatural and does not effectively guide the reader. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'adding to this' and 'next to it.' The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, making it difficult to follow the spatial changes described in the diagrams. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a more cohesive narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'pictures,' 'place,' and 'go.' There are several instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'rebuilding structure' instead of 'redevelopment plan' and 'expression of picture' which is not standard English. You also struggle with collocations; for instance, 'bag area' should be 'baggage reclaim area.' To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to maps and diagrams, such as 'relocated,' 'extended,' 'transformed,' or 'situated,' and avoid repeating the same sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The given pictures has been showing'), article usage ('in future bag area'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in word order, such as 'airport will looks totally different.' While you attempt some complex ideas, the execution is often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and paying attention to singular/plural agreement. Proofreading for these common errors would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
