Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the airport plans, identifying key changes such as the increase in gates, the relocation of facilities, and the addition of new amenities like the car hire and ATM. However, the overview is somewhat simplistic and lacks a clear, analytical summary of the most significant transformations. While the task is addressed, the description of the changes is occasionally repetitive, and the comparison between the 'now' and 'next year' states could be more effectively integrated to highlight the scale of the redevelopment. To reach a higher band, ensure the overview synthesizes the information rather than just listing features, and focus on the most striking differences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the current state to the future plan. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' are used, though they are sometimes used mechanically or repetitively. The flow of information is generally logical, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to avoid a list-like feel. Paragraphing is present, but the introduction and overview are merged, which slightly impacts the structural clarity. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to describe the airport facilities and their locations. However, there are several spelling errors ('demostrates', 'pasport', 'palce', 'reinstall', 'atm') and some awkward phrasing ('confined in the southwest airport'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying heavily on basic descriptive terms. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to maps and diagrams, such as 'situated', 'relocated', 'extended', or 'incorporated', and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy to ensure that the message remains clear and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The given plans illustrates'), article usage ('a atm machine'), and awkward sentence construction ('check-in is replaced from its original palce and is reinstall'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, the student should practice subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and the passive voice, which is essential for describing changes in processes or plans. Proofreading for basic errors would also significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
