Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the changes between the current and future airport plans. However, it fails to clearly highlight the main features or make effective comparisons. The description is somewhat disorganized, and the 'overall' statement is vague. While the response identifies some changes, such as the expansion of the sky train and the addition of shops, it lacks a structured approach to reporting the data. The information is presented in a narrative style rather than an analytical one, which is required for Task 1. To improve, you should group information logically (e.g., by location or type of facility) and ensure that the most significant changes are highlighted clearly in an overview.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused (e.g., 'While, now after modifications...'). The transition between the description of the current airport and the future plans is abrupt. There is no clear logical flow between the sentences, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, making the reader work harder to understand the spatial relationships described. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks to separate the 'current' and 'future' states and employ a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'passport control des' (likely meant 'desk'), 'area of plan travel', and 'consisting on checking'. The use of 'modernization on airport' is also unnatural. While the response manages to convey basic information, it lacks the precision and range of vocabulary expected for a higher band. To improve, focus on learning specific collocations related to describing maps and plans, such as 'is situated in', 'has been relocated', or 'undergone significant expansion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('on airport'), verb tense consistency, and sentence structure. For example, 'there is represented modernization' is grammatically incorrect, and 'they have now facility of getting refreshment' is awkward. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound before attempting more complex structures.
