Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the airport redevelopment, such as the increase in gates, the addition of a skytrain, and the relocation of facilities. However, the response lacks a clear overview, which is essential for a Band 6 or higher. While you mention specific changes, the description is somewhat list-like and lacks a cohesive summary of the overall transformation. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory summary that highlights the most significant changes, such as the expansion of capacity and the modernization of transport links, rather than jumping immediately into specific details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow between sentences is often mechanical and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple transitions like 'Today' and 'After the renovation'. The use of cohesive devices is limited, and some sentences feel disconnected. For example, the transition between the discussion of gates and the mention of shops is abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') to create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the basic meaning, but it is quite limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'conjucted' (congested), 'tarasnporation' (transportation), and 'convinment' (convenience). You also use informal phrasing like 'really good use od empty space'. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise, academic vocabulary related to maps and diagrams, such as 'expanded', 'redesigned', 'relocated', and 'integrated'. Focus on improving your spelling and using more formal, descriptive language suitable for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('airport havs', 'gate's have'), article usage ('the space of southwest airpost'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and there is a lack of complex structures. For instance, 'Today onward airport havs only 8 gates' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex sentences with relative clauses or passive voice, which are particularly useful when describing changes in a diagram.
