Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the airport redevelopment, including the addition of gates, shops, and the sky train. You also noted the areas that remained unchanged, which is a key requirement for a high score. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it lists specific details rather than summarizing the most significant trends or overall changes. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most striking transformations, such as the expansion of passenger facilities and the increased capacity of the airport, rather than just listing individual additions. The report is accurate, but the lack of a strong, synthesized summary prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'the sky train is added new in an airport'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns or references clearly point back to previous information would enhance the cohesion of your writing. Overall, the structure is clear and serves the purpose of the task well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'departure section', and 'customs'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'the number of gates are constructed' (gates are built or added, not constructed in terms of number) and 'the sky train is added new'. These minor inaccuracies do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and collocations related to map descriptions, such as 'relocated', 'extended', or 'transformed'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of gates are constructed') and awkward phrasing ('the sky train is added new in an airport'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining your use of passive voice, which is essential for describing processes and changes in maps. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
