Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
SOUTHWEST AIRPORT
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The diagram presents the current and the future look of an airport next year after extension. Overall, it can be seen that the new airport will have additional facilities than the current airport, ranging from departures, arrivals, gates, shops, car hire, sky train, bag drop and ATM.
At present, the airport has 8 gates connected by an elevator and will have 18 gates up north to be designed in "Y" sharp and a sky train to convey passengers after redevelopment. Now, the airport has one entrance for departures and on exit for arrivals and will account for two departures and arrivals after the completion of the redevelopment by next year. Additionally, In the departures hall, a check-in and cafe are available but the redevelopment will add a bag drop at departures.
Finally, Security and passport control after departure will remain and in the same position with current status but a shop will be added just after the security checkpoint. And, the passport control and customs at the arrival will remain same and in the same position after the anticipating development is completed next year. Car hires and ATM for cash withdrawal by passengers will be available at arrivals when the new airport is birth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the airport redevelopment, including the expansion of gates, the addition of a sky train, and the changes to the terminal layout. You provided a clear overview and made relevant comparisons between the current and future states. However, the description of the gate layout as 'Y sharp' is slightly inaccurate (it is Y-shaped), and the description of the entrance/exit changes could be more precise. To reach a higher band, ensure that all spatial relationships are described with absolute clarity, as some of your descriptions of locations (e.g., 'up north') are a bit informal for an Academic Task 1 report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into three paragraphs: an introduction, a body paragraph focusing on the gates and terminal, and a final paragraph detailing the internal facilities. You use transition signals such as 'At present', 'Additionally', and 'Finally' to guide the reader. However, some cohesive devices are used mechanically, and there are minor issues with referencing. For instance, the phrase 'the anticipating development' is awkward and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the changes, such as 'redevelopment', 'completion', and 'facilities'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors. For example, 'Y sharp' should be 'Y-shaped', 'the new airport is birth' is an incorrect collocation, and 'on exit' is a typo for 'one exit'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing diagrams and ensure that your collocations are natural. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated descriptive verbs and adjectives would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'additional facilities than' (should be 'additional facilities compared to'), 'will account for two departures' (which is slightly confusing), and 'remain same' (should be 'remain the same'). Additionally, there are some minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
