Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the airport plans, including the expansion of facilities and the change in gate numbers. However, the description is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of 'many shops' is vague, and the comparison between the current and future states could be more precise regarding the layout changes. While the key features are identified, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the information effectively. The summary of the 'arrivals' and 'departures' areas is present, but the connection between the two plans could be more explicitly highlighted to better demonstrate the transformation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'At a fleeting glane' and 'Moving further'. Some sentences lack logical flow, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the description of the departures area and the general statement about shops. While there is an attempt to sequence the information, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the paragraphing, while present, does not always group related information logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'facilities', 'center', and 'area'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'man-made digrame', 'will be grown', and 'will has'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'departures', 'arrivals', 'passport control'), but the range is insufficient to convey the information with precision. Spelling errors, such as 'digrame' and 'glane', also detract from the overall quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('It will has', 'Eight gates will converted'), verb tense usage ('there will build'), and sentence structure ('They will not go to outside of the airport for buy something'). While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. Simple sentences are generally understandable, but the lack of control over more complex grammatical forms limits the score. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization.
