Student answer (Band 5.0)
The map illustrates two plans of a site of southwest airport, the first plan is the site in its current state, the other plan is the site in the future after development.
Overall, the site will go through considerable modifications in the future, with several new facilities being introduced, other areas being extended, and other facilities being replaced to other places. The most notable changes were the expansion of the outdoor area, the installation of new ATM maching and a café, and the demolish of the shops.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the task achievement. Because the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, it fails to provide a full summary of the information or make the necessary comparisons between the two plans. While the introduction and overview attempt to identify main features, the lack of a body paragraph means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you describe all key changes shown in the diagrams and provide a complete, balanced report that meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows some attempt at logical organization by including an introduction and an overview. However, because the text is incomplete and lacks a body paragraph, there is no overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'the first plan' and 'the most notable changes' are used, but the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent structure. To improve, ensure your response is complete and use transition words to link your observations about the airport's layout logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for describing maps, such as 'considerable modifications', 'facilities', and 'expansion'. However, there are errors in word choice and form, such as 'ATM maching' (should be 'machines') and 'the demolish of the shops' (should be 'the demolition of the shops'). The range is limited due to the brevity of the response. To improve, focus on using accurate noun forms and expanding your range of descriptive verbs related to urban development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex structures, but the grammatical control is inconsistent. There are punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in the first sentence, and capitalization issues (e.g., 'in the current plan'). The sentence structure is also affected by the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, focus on sentence boundaries and ensure that you use correct word forms and consistent capitalization throughout your writing.
