Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the airport redevelopment, including the changes to the departure and arrival areas. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. While you identify specific shifts, such as the relocation of the cafe and check-in, the report would benefit from a more analytical approach that highlights the overall transformation of the airport's layout. Some details, such as the specific gate numbers, are mentioned, but the comparison between the 'now' and 'next year' states could be more effectively integrated to show the scale of the redevelopment.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'In the given figure', 'In other side', 'On after development'). The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly when transitioning between the departure and arrival sections. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and ideas more naturally, such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast', rather than relying on simple temporal markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic descriptors like 'moved', 'added', and 'look'. There is a lack of more sophisticated vocabulary related to spatial descriptions or architectural changes. For instance, instead of saying 'cafe is moved to left hand side', you could use 'the cafe is relocated to the western wing'. Additionally, there are some minor errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'On after development side', which sounds unnatural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'site of a Southwest Airport'), incorrect preposition usage, and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'ten more gates has added'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization at the start. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
