Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the airport redevelopment, including the addition of the sky train and various amenities. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention that 'many other amenities' will be introduced, the summary could be more precise by grouping the changes into logical categories (e.g., infrastructure vs. passenger facilities). The comparison between the current and future states is present, but the lack of a clear, cohesive overview paragraph at the beginning (the current introduction is quite brief) limits the score. To improve, ensure you highlight the most significant changes rather than listing every minor detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the current state to the future state. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'In the present airport' and 'In conclusion' are used, but there is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within sentences. Additionally, some sentences feel disjointed, such as the transition between the check-in area and the arrival amenities. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring smoother flow between sentences would elevate the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes clearly. You use relevant terms such as 'amenities', 'redevelopment', and 'departure gates'. However, there are some inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'southwest airport cite' (should be 'site') and 'bad drop place' (should be 'bag drop area'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and varied terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'transformed'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. For example, 'in future there will be a lot new amenities will be added' is grammatically incorrect due to the double verb structure. Additionally, there are issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in right side' (should be 'on the right side') and 'in arrival place' (should be 'in the arrival area'). To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles when describing locations on a map.
