Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all key features of the airport redevelopment, including the expansion of gates, the introduction of a sky train, and the repositioning of facilities. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons between the current and future states. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the changes. To reach a higher band, ensure that all spatial descriptions are precise; for instance, while you mention the 'right corner', providing more specific directional context or grouping the changes more logically would strengthen the report. Overall, the task is well-addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the redevelopment. You use cohesive devices such as 'It is noticeable that', 'Besides', and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'Besides' at the start of sentences. The progression of information is generally clear, moving from general changes to specific facility relocations. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid to avoid a list-like structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the changes, such as 'redevelopment', 'repositioned', and 'expanded'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'expantion' (expansion) and 'a ATM' (an ATM). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'in the old place of cafe'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of key terms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms for 'change' or 'move' would also help elevate the lexical quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The plans illustrates', 'number of entrance will be increase') and article usage errors. These errors occur frequently but do not significantly impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic agreement and tense consistency. Incorporating a wider variety of complex structures, such as passive voice constructions to describe the changes, would also demonstrate better control over your grammar.
