Student answer (Band 4.5)

It illustrates the site of an airport now and planned after development next year.

overall, the airport is less developed and in year they have plan to develop the airport adding a various facilities and shop as well.

The recent condition of the airport is less developed and getting less facilities. In the airport only few facilities are avilable like Gates, walkway, cafe and checkin these are the facilities. The area of walkway is small and peaple walk by themselves this so these will be change and the departures and nd arrivals has only one entry. we have to make more entry departure and arrivals.

Additionally, For future planning various facilities are developed and walkway changed into skytrain which help people arrived at time. There will be 16 Gates in Future. Most important to add is Bag drop and Car hire people should park car. the futhermore, for all people it will be necessary at anythme in future so ATM will also add in Future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The student attempts to describe the changes to the airport, noting the expansion of gates and the addition of facilities such as a skytrain, bag drop, and car hire. However, the response falls short of fully satisfying the task requirements due to limited data selection and underdeveloped reporting. Key spatial relationships and exact details (such as the Y-shaped concourse and specific wing layouts) are missed or described vaguely as 'less developed'. The overview is simplistic and informal ('in year they have plan to develop'), and the word count barely clears the threshold. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to provide a clearer, more structured overview and select key features systematically without resorting to conversational filler or imprecise descriptions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response is divided into short paragraphs, but overall logical progression is weak. The introduction is abrupt, and the body paragraphs lack clear thematic grouping, jumping disjointedly between general conditions, current facilities, and future plans. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as 'the futhermore' and repetitive transitions like 'in Future'. Reference pronouns are sometimes unclear (e.g., 'these so these will be change'). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is hindered by poor sentence linkage and run-on structures. Clearer cohesive linking and a more logical sequence of details are needed to improve readability.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic, repetitive, and heavily relies on simple terms lifted directly from the prompt, such as 'facilities', 'airport', 'gates', 'walkway', and 'cafe'. There are frequent lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'recent condition' instead of 'current layout', and 'getting less facilities'. Attempts at less common vocabulary are either absent or unidiomatic ('peaple walk by themselves this so these will be change'). Spelling errors and word formation issues are noticeable (e.g., 'avilable', 'futhermore', 'anythme'), which occasionally causes strain for the reader. A wider and more precise range of vocabulary related to maps and urban development is required.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text contains numerous basic errors in tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure (e.g., 'the airport is less developed and in year they have plan to develop', 'we have to make more entry departure and arrivals'). Sentences are often awkwardly constructed or fragmented, such as 'the area of walkway is small and peaple walk by themselves this so these will be change'. Punctuation is also erratic, with inconsistent capitalization ('overall', 'Additionally'). While simple sentence forms are occasionally accurate, complex structures are attempted with frequent errors that obscure meaning and impede clear communication.
