Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the main changes shown in the airport plans, noting the expansion from 8 to 18 gates, the addition of a sky train, and new facilities such as car hire, bag drop, and a larger shopping area. However, the overview is extremely basic, and the description relies heavily on fragmented, sequential listing rather than a well-synthesized comparison. Important layout details are missing or vaguely described. This aligns closely with Band 5, where the task is addressed, but the reporting of features is limited, repetitive, and lacks a fully developed overview.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, consisting instead of a series of short, abrupt sentences clumped together without clear thematic separation. Progression throughout the text is difficult to follow because cohesive devices are largely absent or repetitive (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'After redevelopment'). There is little logical sequencing of ideas between the current layout and the proposed changes. Pronoun referencing and signposting are weak, causing the reader to struggle in connecting the features described to the specific parts of the maps. This reflects the characteristics of Band 4 to Band 5, with Band 5 being appropriate due to the overall recognizable organization.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, relying on everyday terms like 'big airport', 'fast growing', and simple verbs ('shows', 'turns into'). There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Airport are fast growing to next year', 'passenger arrive in thier gate', and 'carrey many passenger compare to the past'. The range of vocabulary is limited to simple descriptions of physical objects and directions, struggling to express the spatial transformations accurately. This falls under Band 5 due to the noticeable errors and limited lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Airport are', 'there are one- one gate'), articles ('the sky train', 'an ATM machine'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or poorly constructed with missing punctuation and capitalization errors ('Look. It Means', 'thier'). Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when they are, they contain noticeable inaccuracies ('passenger arrive in thier gate', 'passenger enter to departures there are 2 gates'). These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and firmly place the grammar at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
