The plans below show the site of an airport now and how it will look after redevelopment next year.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
SOUTHWEST AIRPORT
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The following plans illustrate the maps of an airport as of now and after the remodeling that will be done next year.
Overall, the the building will be extended towards the upper side by extending the hallway and adding several gates. Furthermore, walkway will be removed by replacing it with the sky train along with several new facilities and services in the airport.
Looking at the maps in more detail, additional departures and arrivals gates will be added to lower the crowd near the entrance of the airport. Similarly, the airport will have two cafe areas one on each sides of the building while the check-in counter will be moved towards the right side of the departure lane. In addition to this, an area to drop off bags will be allocated near the passport control centre and ATM and car park will be added for the convinience of people in the arrivals side of the airport.
Subsequently, a shopping centre will be added above the security room and the hallway for gates will be extended to occupy 18 gates which is only 8 at this moment. In contrast, walkway will be removed in the new development plan and the sky train will help in the transportation of passangers to various gates.
